This week is a vital week for English sport with the Rugby team competing at the World Cup in France, the Football team playing vital Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and the Russia and the English Cricket team facing India in the final of the One Day Internationals, with the series finely balanced at 3 - 3. How will the teams fair?
There is probably most pressure on the football team after a very difficult start to qualifying for Euro 2008, but the boys have the chance to put it right over the next few days, with fans looking for a double against Israel and Russia, to put the campaign back on track. Injuries have hampered preparations, but their can be no more excuses - England expects!
The cricket team will also be under pressure to get a result after being pegged back by a surprisingly resilient India team who had been written off by many. India snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the last game, and will go into the final battle with their tails up.
While the England rugby team go to the World Cup as holders, few are expecting them to make a big impact on the tournament. You should never write off an England rugby team, but it does seem an awful tough call for them to retain their title. The team are currently under going a period of rebuilding, with much of the old guard replaced by players for the future - but the tournament may have come a little too early for some of them.
